Jacksonport State Park

Jacksonport State Park combines history and natural beauty in a compact area, making it a perfect place for a family camping trip. Due to its location at the conjunction of the White and Black Rivers, Jacksonport was a busy port during the steamboat days and occupied by the North and South in the Civil War. Left behind by the railroad passing it by, Jacksonport's 1872 county courthouse now serves as a museum. You can come and enjoy hiking, biking and swimming.
History along the river
Jacksonport's two-story red brick courthouse contains two museums through which you and your family can take a self-guided tour. Learn about life in a nineteenth century river town through the Courthouse Museum's exhibits. Included in the tour is the county clerk's office, a display on the town's role in the War Between the States, and an exhibit about the building's time as the county poorhouse. Also, housed in the courthouse is the White River Pearling and Shelling Museum. At the beginning of the 1900s, Jacksonport was hit with the freshwater pearl craze. Equipment used in harvesting pearls and making them into buttons is displayed. The courthouse museums are open six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Trail walking, running and riding
Bring your hiking boots or bikes to Jacksonport, or just enjoy the half mile Tunstall Riverwalk as a leisurely stroll. The trail goes between the campground and the Mary Woods paddleboat, once a working river expedition vehicle sunk recently by vandals.
A camping spot for the kiddies
Easily accessible from Arkansas 69, Jacksonport State Park is perfect for a family camping weekend. Amenities at the state park include a swimming beach, 20 Class A campsites featuring water and electric hook-ups, a pavilion area and a playground for the kiddies.
Jacksonport State Park is a great place to bring your young family when you need to get away from it all.
