Lake Charles State Park

Lake Charles State Park is one of the most popular parks in Arkansas for fishermen and outdoorsmen. However, this gorgeous oasis at the foot of the Ozarks provides entertainment for anyone.
Natural beauty
The Ozark Mountains are some of the most scenic sights in the entire state of Arkansas, as lush, rolling foothills climb to dramatic peaks covered with greenery. The pure water that flows down the mountains feeds a number of rivers and lakes. One of the most spectacular is Lake Charles, a 645-acre expanse of crystal-clear spring-fed water.
Fishing
Anglers from all over the state flock to Lake Charles to cast for bass, crappie, bream, catfish and other freshwater fish. The park features a launch ramp for small boats, and, on most weekends, the lake is dotted with fishermen striking gold. Despite the number of anglers, the lake is very well-stocked.
Other activities
For those who are not interested in fishing, Lake Charles offers a panoply of other things to do. A number of trails wend through the park, although several of them are temporarily closed due to wind damage. A swimming beach set away from the fishing area provides hours of family fun in the clean, refreshing water. The park also offers guided kayak tours for those who want to learn more about the natural history of the area. There are no camping facilities, however.
Here's hoping this description has whetted your appetite for a visit to Lake Charles. Bring plenty of bait, because you'll be hauling in fish all day.
