Outdoor activities
Fort Smith State Park is located on the western side of Lake Fort Smith. The 1,400 acre lake is a popular destination for local fishermen, water skiers and kayakers. With boat rentals and a marina, a double launch boat ramp provides easy access in and out of the lake. Featuring updated facilities, including 20 Class AAA and 10 Class B campsites, picnic sites and a pavilion, families find this park is the perfect spot for a fun family weekend get-a-way. For group trips, there is a lodge that can accommodate up to 32 guests. Hikers and mountain bikers enjoy the provided trails, while kids love the 2,660 square-foot swimming pool that has a wading pool and splash area for smaller children. No matter the age of the guest, Fort Smith State Park has the perfect outdoor activity.
The exhibit gallery
Families enjoy the exhibit gallery where children and adults discover the cultural history of this natural area. The gallery explains how, through time, abundant water supplies made the valley a place of hope, faith and sacrifice. It features an early American log cabin, a covered wagon and a diorama of the lake. Featuring hands-on activities and live animals, this exhibit is an excellent summertime educational resource.
Informative tours are provided throughout the year. Take boat or kayak tours of the lake, or backpack on guided trail walks to gaze at the stunning flora and fauna of the area. You can also participate in various workshops that are given by expert staff members year round. Fort Smith State Park presents many interesting endeavors for any guest to explore.
