Millwood State Park

Millwood State Park is a state park in southwestern Arkansas, centered on the Millwood Lake reservoir. The lake covers 29,200 acres, roughly nine miles of Ashdown, Arkansas and 16 miles north of Texarkana; it is a man-made lake, held behind a dam at the juncture of the Little and Saline Rivers. The lake is replete with submerged timber and marsh areas, which are important habitats for many fish species and make Millwood Lake a fisherman's paradise.

Lodging

The state park offers 115 campsites, of which all but three are equipped with utility hookups for recreational vehicles. The remaining three sites are for tent camping only. The camping facilities are equipped with showers and dump stations. One Rent-An-RV site is also available.

Activities

Millwood State Park is best known for its excellent fishing. The lake is well-known for bass fishing tournaments, and many other fish species (including catfish and crappie) are abundant within its waters. Boating is also a popular activity at Millwood, although much of the lake is unavailable to boats due to submerged timber. Canoes, pedal boats and powered boats are available for rent at the park marina, which also offers fishing supplies and groceries. Two easy hiking trails meander through the woods around Millwood. Bird-watchers also find Millwood State Park attractive; many species of bird are present throughout the year. For example, waterfowl and eagles spend the winter in the park.
