Things to do
There are more than 14 miles of hiking trail throughout the park, ranging from easy to strenuous hiking. Take a short 1.5 mile high to the top of Mount Magazine, standing at 2,753 feet, and reward yourself with views of the Petit Jean and Arkansas Rivers. Fall brings spectacular leaf changes and is one of the most popular times to visit the park. Enjoy leisurely horseback rides through old growth forests, or for more adventure choose backpacking or rock climbing. This area is also a haven for hang gliders looking to launch from from atop Mount Magazine.
Use Mount Magazine State Park as a base-camp to explore the surrounding areas, or spend a weekend exploring its boundaries.
