Pinnacle Mountain State Park

Dedicated to environmental education, outdoor recreation and preservation, Pinnacle Mountain State Park is known for both its rich diversity of natural habitat, and the honor as Arkansas’s first state park near a major metropolitan area.
Pinnacle Mountain
Located just west of Little Rock, the park’s 2,000 acres feature everything from upland peaks to river bottom lands along the Big Maumelle and Little Maumelle rivers. Pinnacle Mountain, with its distinctive cone-shaped peak, is the park’s highest point and rises more than a 1,000 feet above the river valley. Two hiking trails lead to the summit. Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a day-use facility, so campers wanting to stay overnight in the area are encouraged to utilize the Maumelle Park campsites just four miles down the road.
Amenities and educational opportunities
The park features a variety of other hiking trails and two mountain bike trails. Park interpreters and volunteers are available to answer questions and educate visitors about the relationship between mankind and the environment. For the more adventurous, the park offers canoe and boat tours, as well as horseback riding through a concessionaire. Educational opportunities abound at the Arkansas Arboretum, a 71-acre site inside the park and the visitor’s center, which houses exhibits, meeting rooms and a gift shop. Park facilities include developed picnic sites, modern restrooms and boat launch ramps.
Displaying the best that nature has to offer, Pinnacle Mountain State Park provides a wealth of environmental education and outdoor recreation in one of the most beautiful settings in the state of Arkansas.
