Queen Wilhelmina State Park

The Ouachita Mountains in west central Arkansas offer some of the most spectacular natural vistas in the state. Queen Wilhelmina State Park is located amidst these stunning mountain views. In addition to the fabulous scenery, the park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. The crown jewel of the park is a historic lodge with over one hundred years of history tied to the development of railroads of the west central United States.
Park attractions
Queen Wilhelmina Lodge, located atop Rich Mountain, offers excellent accommodations and a number of activities for park visitors. The lodge includes miniature golf, a children’s playground and volleyball court. In addition to the 38-room luxury lodge, the park offers campsites, hiking trails from beginner to advanced, panoramic overlooks, a miniature train ride, guided nature hikes and a nearby animal rehabilitation center. Overnight visitors can choose campsites with water and electrical hook-ups and a modern bathhouse with hot showers. The town of Mena is located just 13 miles east of the park and offers ATV and bike trails, golf course, canoeing and kayaking and a number of lakes and streams for abundant fishing.
Flora and fauna
The Ouachita Mountains are home to rabbits, deer, raccoons and black bears. Guided nature walks include lectures about local wildlife, trees, plants and wildflower species. There are birdwatching activities and a native species rehabilitation center. In addition to the abundant natural species in the park, the mountains offer breathtaking scenic overlooks. The panoramic views and spectacular mountain vistas provide some of the most incredible photographic opportunities in Arkansas.
