Village Creek State Park

Village Creek State Park is relatively new, as it was acquired by the state in 1979, and opened to the public on April 20, 1994. It covers 1,090 forested acres, with cypress, water tupelo and river birch predominating. There is abundant wildlife, including white tailed deer, opossum and snapping turtles. Bird lovers find wood ducks, egrets and herons in abundance.
Facilities
The park is an excellent location for campers, with numerous sites offering water, electricity, fire rings and many other amenities. Restrooms and showers are also available, as well as a children’s playground. Over four miles of groomed hiking trails wind through the park, and there are plenty of activities for the entire family to enjoy. The park staff offers interpretive trail hikes, tours and presentations throughout the year.
Location and hours
Village Creek State Park is open year-round, with the busy season running from February to September. The entrance fee is $2 per person per day, with special rates available for schools and holders of various park passes issued by the State. The park is north of Beaumont off of US 69/96; take the Mitchell Road exit to Village Creek Parkway, then turn on Alma Drive and look for the entrance.
