Withrow Springs State Park

Nestled in the bluffs of the War Eagle Creek in the Ozark Mountains, you can find Withrow Springs State Park. The park is located in Huntsville, Arkansas in the northeastern part of the state. This state park is a local favorite because of its prime creek location and hilly hiking trails. Floaters and hikers alike flock to the area to access the natural beauty of the Ozarks and the War Eagle Creek.
Camping
The park offers 30 AAA campsites for campers. They are all wheelchair accessible with a woods view. All sites have water, 50 AMP electricity and sewer. The park has modern bathrooms, and the campgrounds have showers to rinse off after a day on the trails.
Hiking
Withrow Springs State Park is home to two moderate trails and one moderate/strenuous trail. The Dogwood Trail is a hiker's dream in the spring, when the Dogwood trees are in bloom. The trail winds through the mountains for 0.75 miles then loops back to the campground. The Forest Trail is only 1.5 miles long, but the trip is extended to 2.5 miles if hikers want to walk from the campground to the trail head. The War Eagle trail is 2 miles and it follows along the creek and winds through the hardwood forest. It is one of the most popular trails because of the scenic view from the top of a 150-foot-high bluff.
River access
There are points of river access to the War Eagle Creek within the park's boundaries. The marina also offers Canoe rentals that include a shuttle ride back from an access point south of the park.
Withrow Springs State Park is a great place to experience the beauty of the Ozark Mountains and the War Eagle Creek. The best seasons to visit this park are Spring, when the Dogwoods are in bloom, and Fall, when the trees begin to change colors.
